Sunset Sunday: Monteverde

January 2014 - Monteverde, Costa Rica

After getting our fill of the beach, we left Montezuma for some cloud forest action in Monteverde. On the bumpy ride up the mountain, I haphazardly stuck my camera out the window to catch the sun going down on the Gulf of Nicoya.

Hudson Blues

The view from one of my favorite spots on the Hudson River Park. I used to run here pretty often in the summer, watching the sun set on one side and the city light up on the other.

Sunset Sunday: Venice

March 2014 - Venice, Italy

It rained on and off the entire time I was in Venice, but on the last afternoon the sky finally opened up. Liza and I were down in the Dorsoduro area getting gelato, but with the sight of blue skies we hauled our butts to the Rialto bridge and were blessed with this gorgeous view.

Ivy

I lived for over fifteen years next to Princeton, but of course never took the time to wander through its campus. I guess I was too busy stuffing my face with Hoagie Haven cheese steaks and Halo Pub ice cream to make it over. When I went last week, I planned on shooting the architecture, but got side tracked by the beautiful walls of ivy.

Beginnings

I am finally feeling a little more settled in with my new laptop. I've gotten better at faking my way through Lightroom and even made a weak attempt at organizing the photos on my hard drive. I've had the best time looking through my photo archives. I've been laughing my butt off at how I thought some photos I took were really hot shit, but looking at them now, they are actually terrible. There was a time when I only shot in no flash mode and in JPEG. Que horror!

Anyway,  here's a very old one from China Summer 2010, long before I got my hands on a DSLR and understood anything about photography (what am I talking about, I still know nothing). This serendipitous shot was taken at Hangzhou with my point + shoot.   I was walking around the West Lake, looked back over my shoulder and snapped this fleeting moment before it rode away.

Sunset Sunday: Brooklyn Bridge

This is from the first time I walked the Brooklyn Bridge, back in Summer 2012. What can I say? It was love at first sight.

Soup & Salad

I've been cookin' nah nahhhh (to the tune of  'Drunk in Love' because I am soo excited for Beyonce & Jay-Z next weekend!)

First up a lovely french onion soup. It takes a bit of patience to caramelize onions, but the deep, rich broth with the melty fontina croutons was sooo worth it. I also found another delicious salad recipe to add to my rotation. Super easy and tasty. Blanch some asparagus and edamame beans (couldn't locate fava ones) and then top with some bacon, fried shallots, and a lemony, parmesan dressing. Tip: fry up the shallots in the bacon grease. OH YES.

Struggle city with the lighting in my kitchen and Lightroom! Look how different the counter is in each photo haha
