From Where I Stand

Here is a dorky little series of photos I did last year when I picked up my wide angle lens, starring my feet and some of my favorite places in NYC they have taken me.

Top of the Rock

Top of the Rock at sunset was cliche, crowded, beautiful and just perfect. Yes, the price of admission could buy you about 5 platters of chicken & rice, but please just do it. To get the full magic of being up there, come about an hour before sunset and stay for two. Alternate back and forth between the Central Park and Empire State Building views, trying in vain to determine which side is better. Take lots of pictures and laugh at how terrible flash makes you look.

It isn't a trip to Soho without a stop at the flagship Dean & Deluca store! This place will definitely bust a budget, but my favorite discovery are the giant cookies (7th picture). Four words. TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE. $2.50 for a chocolate cookie the size of your face studded with white, milk, and dark chocolate pieces. YES PLEASE.

Sunset Sunday: Flushing Meadows

A late summer sunset juxtaposed against an industrial yard of subway cars. I dig it.

Hudson Stroll

Here are some snaps from a fun evening with my friend Jamie, that we now affectionately refer to as 'the disaster date'. Our main plan, to visit Top of the Rock, plus our five back up plans all did not work out. Dejected, we just ended up walking along the Hudson, which wasn't too bad of a consolation prize.

Greenmarket Pt. II

So many pictures of produce, I didn't even get to any of my flower shots from the Greenmarket! How gorgeous are these flowers?? I just want to find a giant field of them and run/frolic/sing Sound of Music through them.

Greenmarket Pt. 1

I absolutely adore farmer's markets, so when I took my first trip to the Union Square Greenmarket, I pretty much turned into a giddy little school girl. Is it strange that I get this excited about fresh produce? I seriously could not smiling at all the vibrant produce and beautiful flowers, and had a silly grin plastered on my face the whole two hours I was there.

Hudson Blues

The view from one of my favorite spots on the Hudson River Park. I used to run here pretty often in the summer, watching the sun set on one side and the city light up on the other.

Sunset Sunday: Brooklyn Bridge

This is from the first time I walked the Brooklyn Bridge, back in Summer 2012. What can I say? It was love at first sight.

Staten Island Ferry

Here are pictures from Kim and I's Staten Island Ferry sunset adventure a few weeks ago. I went absolutely snap happy with the changing light and gorgeous skyline. The ferry goes right up there with Brooklyn Bridge and Press Lounge for my favorite sunset city views.

A tip for the ladies: a short flowy dress is really not the best idea for the windy boat ride hah.

Friday Fun

Yesterday, I had some fun after work adventures with Kim. We met up at Bryant Park, where they were doing a free bachata lesson. I havn't been Latin dancing since Costa Rica in January, forgot how much fun my complete lack of rhythm is!

Afterwards, we went downtown to cross 'Staten Island Ferry sunset ride' off our NYC to-do list. The setting sun on the downtown skyline made it a prime photo opportunity and fortunately I was dragging around my DSLR that day. Unfortunately, my technologically challenged self is seriously struggling migrating these pictures to my new laptop. For now, here's a quick phone snap.
