Holiday Cheer

A little ode to the lights, cards and other decorations that give you that fuzzy, warm all over holiday spirit. I hope everyone had a good holidays and a wonderful new year. HELLO 2015!

Sunrise Sunday: Humpback Rocks

 November 2012 - Charlottesville, VA

Kim and I got lost going to Humpback Rocks to catch the sunrise but eventually got there and hustled to the top for this view. YAY. And then we proceeded to get lost for an hour going down the mountain. YAY.

Getty Museum

Two years later, the Getty Museum in LA is still one of my favorite pieces of architecture. Something about the travertine stone and the grid motif was just so cohesive and beautiful. The California sunshine and views of LA didn't hurt either! I highly recommend the museum tour which had all these fun tidbits about the museum features and Richard Meier's design thought process.

Mr & Mrs Lee

I helped my parents celebrate their 25th anniversary with this photoshoot over the summer. We picked the sappiest/most romantic place on the face of the Earth  within convenient transportation: Central Park! It was my first time shooting anything like this, but my parents were patient and put up with me.

Parental units, thanks for the fun afternoon. You guys were hilariously bad at taking photo direction, but your love and humor are an infinite source of inspiration.
Dad: "Why aren't we looking at the camera?? This is dumb."
"Do I look cool? I need a new Wechat photo."
"DANG. I LOOK SO COOL."

This pretty much sums up how I feel about cold weather:
These cuties were spotted at the Charlottesville Farmer's Market. Stay warm everyone!

From Where I Stand

Here is a dorky little series of photos I did last year when I picked up my wide angle lens, starring my feet and some of my favorite places in NYC they have taken me.

1. Central Park // 2. Hudson River Park // 3. Brooklyn Bridge // 4. Battery Park // 5. Central Park // 6. Battery Park

Sunrise Sunday: Montezuma

January 2014 - Montezuma, Costa Rica

I completely struggle with waking up early for work, but when I'm on vacation, waking up to see a sunrise is a piece of cake!

Friday Night Lights

A couple of Fridays ago, I took an after-work walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, before meeting up with some friends at the Festival of Lights. If an art exhibit had a baby with a mini rave, you'd get this festival. Sometimes I can be a total NYC hater, but it's really wonderful the fun, free events the city always has. Plus, walking the Brooklyn Bridge always puts me in my happy place.

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Anytime there is a fountain to throw coins into, a dandelion to blow, or other wish granting opportunities, I always wish for the same thing: happiness and health for my family and friends. I am incredibly thankful, that for the most part, this wish has continually been granted. I would be nowhere without my wonderful family and friends. I will be spending my break with all these lovely people: family Thanksgiving in New Jersey, Friendsgiving in Virginia, and a wedding in Maryland. Ciao!

Sunset Sunday: Battery Park

March 2014 - Battery Park, New York City

In the winter, the second I get off work, I'm scurrying home to my warm bed.  I was feeling a bit masochistic this day and waited around in the freezing cold to watch this sunset.

Homecoming

Homecoming Weekend was just the most wonderful, sleep-deprived two days of catching up with friends, basking in the gorgeous weather (do you see the sky in all these photos?!), and stuffing my face with Bodo's. This work week has been quite the bummer in comparison haha. Bye UVA, you were wonderful and I miss you a ton.

Do:
Hike Humpback: We completely failed at our original plans to wake up for sun rise, but the hike was still great. NYC has deprived me of grass and trees and I couldn't get enough of being out in the mountains.
Go Wine tasting: There are all kinds of wonderful vineyards in the Charlottesville area. It's a great excuse to get out, get a drink, and drive among the beautiful farmland.

See:
UVA Grounds: The campus ain't a UNESCO World Heritage site for nothing :) I took a run to The Lawn early Sunday morning and it was just perfect. I had it all to myself and proceeded to geek out at how pretty the campus is.

Eat:
Bodo's: PSA - Order the pastrami sandwich from Bodo's. It'll rock your world. My go to is the pastrami sandwich on everything bagel w/ provolone, horseradish, lettuce, tomato, onions, and sprouts.
Cookout: Cookout is disgusting, but when it's 3am after a night of drinking, the chicken strips tray is what dreams are made of.
